Burmester 217 Review by Hi-Fi+
The Burmester 217 is a formidable turntable like the 175 was before it. And yet, it is not a turntable that delivers a formidable sound.

When I first heard about the flagship 069 CD player from German high-end manufacturer Burmester Audio, I was surprised to learn that it is belt driven.
Featuring a hefty outboard power supply and an elaborate belt-driven disc transport, Burmester’s flagship CD player proves a cost-no-object audio masterpiece.
The 069 and 089 CD players are not only eyecandy but true audiophile pieces.
The best CD player money can buy? Quite possibly, we haven’t heard anything better
It took 41 years for Burmester to make its first turntable, so the 175 had to be something really special.
I have to admit to something of an Orwellian existential crisis here. On the one hand, I tend to think, ‘all good rips equal’, and yet on the other, devices like the 151 support the notion.
An inch-thick steel plate separates the analog from the digital section for maximum fidelity.
If you pressed me for a summary judgement in spite of these caveats, I would opt for for the Burmester 069..
